Dr. Jessica Thompson is a board-certified large animal internal medicine specialist with nearly 10 years' experience as an equine veterinarian in both the private practice and academic sectors. She enjoys all aspects of equine medicine but has a special love for foal medicine, ultrasound-guided diagnostics, ophthalmology and management of respiratory disease.

Dr. Thompson is a 2005 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, she completed an internship at Equine Medical Center of Ocala and a residency in equine internal medicine at Louisiana State University. She also holds a Master of Science for her research into the effects of clenbuterol on the muscles of exercising horses and is well-trained in cardiac evaluations.

Prior to establishing InsideOut Equine Medicine, she has worked as a visiting clinician at Purdue University and Oregon State University, a relief veterinarian in general equine practice, and an associate veterinarian at Retama Equine Hospital in San Antonio.

InsideOut Equine Medicine is a mobile, specialty practice that focuses on using internal medicine to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases, ranging from respiratory conditions and endocrine disorders to unexplained weight loss and chronic colic. Based in Austin, we serve the horse population of greater central Texas.

The advanced training that all medicine specialists receive after completing their veterinary education makes them an excellent resource for getting to the bottom of hard-to-diagnose illnesses, and for differentiating whether neurologic disease, cardiac disease, airway inflammation, or musculoskeletal injury is to blame for poor athletic performance.
